Shine like a Dandelion!!!!
January 11, 2008
I have always loved Mini Moni (which, if you don’t know, is a subgroup of Morning Musume eg. Mini Moni, Pucchi Moni, and Tanpopo) But now I discovered Tanpopo, meaning “dandelion.” Ever since downloading Tanpopo’s 9-26-2002 appearance on Utaban, I have been humming their songs, especially Koi wo Shichaimashita.
Tanpopo’s History
Tanpopo was formed in 1998, consisting of Morning Musume’s Ishiguro Aya, Iida Kaori, and Yaguchi Mari. The group was to release softer, slower songs, more mature than Momusu’s music. The first generation of Tanpopo released 4 singles and an album before Ishiguro Aya left in 1999.
Singles:
- Last Kiss
- Motto
- Tanpopo
- Seinaru Kane ga Hibiku Yoru
Album: Tanpopo 1

In the summer of 2000, Kago Ai and Ishikawa Rika were put into Tanpopo as the second generation. This line-up released three singles (including Koi wo Shichaimashita!! YAY! ….sorry). At the same time Yaguchi and Kago were put into Mini Moni with Tsuji Nozomi and Mika, while Ishikawa and Kaorin were in only Morning Musume.
Singles:
-Otome Pasta ni Kandou
-Koi wo Shichaimashita
-Oujisama to Yuki no Yoru

Tanpopo’s third generation was formed in September 2002. Aibon, Yaguchi, and Kaorin all graduated, and Ishikawa Rika was left with the new members: Momusu’s Niigaki Risa, Konno Asami, and Melon Kinebi’s Shibata Ayumi. They only released one single and one best-of album before going on hiatus, and since then Tanpopo has not returned
Single- BE HAPPY Koi no Yarijobee
Best-of Album- All of Tanpopo
lol @ Kaori
“I’m supporting Tanpopo with my life and soul, until the very end.”

The original Tanpopo was sensational, with little Aibon mixing quite well with the more experienced Rika, Kaori and Yaguchi. They probably should have been allowwed to stay together longer.
